FAPAS, FEPAS and GeMMA are UKAS Accredited.

ukas logoUKAS accreditation confirms that we comply with the requirements of International Standard ISO/IEC Guide 43-1:1997, through assessment against ILAC G13:2000. Additionally, relevant elements of ISO 9000:1994 are included to eliminate the need for separate recognition of compliance with this standard. We were a member of the original pilot group set up by UKAS to establish a system of accreditation for proficiency testing providers and received our Accreditation Certificate at a ceremony held at London Zoo on the 4th July 2002, which was attended by all the successful pilot group PT schemes and senior executives of UKAS.

LEAP is not yet formally accredited but is operated under many of the same procedures as FAPAS and FEPAS and we hope to gain accreditation for this scheme shortly.

FAPAS (and other proficiency testing schemes) do not award accreditation. That is the responsibility of national accreditation bodies. A list of national and international accreditation bodies can be found at www.fasor.com/iso25. Results of proficiency testing are used by laboratory accreditation bodies as part of the process to assess the ability of laboratories to perform analytical tests for which accreditation is required.
